The first settlers discovered the area currently known as Prospect
, Kentucky in the late 1700’s while boating down Harrods Creek. Prospect started to gain popularity a hundred years later when Westport Road and the railroad were constructed. At this time the area was known as Sand Hill because of the abundance of sand in the area. Up until the 1960’s Prospect was mainly farmland.
