Jeffersontown, near Louisville Kentucky, has a long history.  Jeffersontown was incorporated in 1797 and was named after Thomas Jefferson, the Vice President at the time.  Jeffersontown is the second largest city in the county and the eleventh largest city in the state of Kentucky.  Significant prosperity has come to the City of Jeffersontown as a result of the explosive growth along Hurstbourne Lane.

The City of Jeffersontown, Kentucky was founded by a man named Abraham Bruner in 1797.  Bruner named the town after Thomas Jefferson, but for many years the occupants referred to the town as “Brunerstown”. In the early to mid-1900’s Jeffersontown did not attract very many inhabitants, that is, until the 1950’s.  At this time the General Electric Appliance Park opened its doors, bringing a flood of new arrivals to the area.  This influx of new citizens brought many improvements and renovations such as new roads and expressways, which made traveling around the city of Louisville much easier. About ten years later, in 1966, the Bluegrass Research and Industrial Park was developed.  The park was one of a kind, with a unique and relaxed park setting.  Today Bluegrass Research and Industrial Park is the largest in Kentucky making Jeffersontown, Kentucky the third largest city for employment in the state.

Currently the city of Jeffersontown is booming.  There are so many restaurants, shops, grocery stores, hotels and businesses around every corner it is hard to keep track.  That is one reason why people choose to live in this eventful suburb of Louisville.  There are a wide range of housing types available in Jeffersontown as well.  From ranches to cape cods in rural and suburban areas; there really is a property in Jeffersontown for everyone.

One of the things Jeffersontown, Kentucky is known for is its annual Gaslight Festival.  The Gaslight Festival started in 1969 as a neighborhood block party and has since grown into the 5th largest festival in the area.  This extravaganza offers a parade, balloon glow, car show, 5K run, live entertainment, over 140 booths and much more.
